HOUSTON, Texas and SMITHVILLE, Texas (Mar 17, 2023) Rural Telecommunications of America, Inc (RTA) finalized the acquisition of local Internet Provider SCT Broadband. RTA will begin upgrading its services with RTA’s gigFAST® INTERNET, VOICE, and streaming TV services in Smithville, Flatonia, LaGrange, Schulenburg, Bastrop, and the surrounding areas offering internet speeds up to 10 gigabits per second.
As part of the launch event, RTA is hosting RTA Appreciation Day in downtown SMITHVILLE at the Gazebo on Wednesday, March 22nd starting at 5:00PM. Sharon Foerster, Mayor of the City of SMITHVILLE and the SMITHVILLE Area Chamber of Commerce will be presenting Zane Smith, 2022 NASCAR Truck Series Champion and last years COTA winner, with the “Key to the City” at 5:30PM. Zane will be available to autograph HERO CARDs and pose for pictures with attendees from 5:45PM to 6:15PM. There will be giveaways and drawings for free tickets to the COTA and Cotton Bowl Speedway races for the weekend.
Autographed Zane Smith hats will also be given away on RTA’s Twitter and Facebook pages @rta4usa.
Other activities include live music from Hank Williams IV, food from Bubby’s BBQ, new Ford F150s on display from Alpha One Ford, a stock car from Cotton Bowl Speedway, and special offers from businesses in SMITHVILLE.
KBUK 104.9 and 92.3 Renegade Radio will be broadcasting live during the event.
