The Texas State Broadband Office awarded RTA a matching BOOTS II grant to provide internet connectivity to more than 10,471 unserved homes and businesses in Bastrop County.

Stage 1
Engineering/Design: crews will in your area measuring utility poles, obstacles, and underground easements and paths.
Stage 2
Construction: After you have preregistered/registered, RTA will work with you to schedule additional construction crews to install a drop cable to your home or business.
Stage 3
Assuming you have preregistered, construction crews will install a drop cable to your home or business.
Stage 4
RTA Install: RTA’s Customer Care Team will connect with you to schedule our quality care installation crews to complete the final setup for your home. Once completed, you will begin surfing at the speed of light with your gigFAST INTERNET®
RTA will be working to complete construction to all covered homes by December 2026. Pre sign-up's are happening now.

Bastrop County, Texas, is embarking on a transformative initiative that positions it as a national leader in broadband connectivity. This ambitious project aims to provide high-speed fiber internet access to over 10,000 previously underserved rural households, enhancing opportunities in education, healthcare, and economic development.
The county's efforts have garnered significant support, including a $43 million grant from the Texas Broadband Development Office's BOOT II program, supplemented by additional funding from Rural Telecommunications America (RTA). This funding will facilitate the deployment of a state-of-the-art fiber-to-the-home network, delivering gigabit-speed internet services to residents and businesses.
In parallel, Bastrop County has been recognized as the first certified "Connected" community in Texas. This certification reflects the county's comprehensive technology action plan, which includes initiatives to expand broadband access, promote digital literacy, and enhance government services.
Through these concerted efforts, Bastrop County is setting a new standard for rural broadband infrastructure, ensuring that its residents are well-equipped to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
